Early Porsche Panamera models are becoming bargains. Today I'm reviewing this 2012 Panamera to show you that you can get a lot of car for under $30,000 -- and I'm going to take you on a tour of this Panamera, and then drive it to reveal one of the best Porsche bargains on the market.

  • So question about the "cost of ownership" comment you made toward the end. I've always been drawn to the styling of the panamera and with the dwindling value of them, started checking the used selection locally. But then a local mechanic told me an oil change on one of these is $400+. Is that true? Just curious because that is pretty significant if we're talking cost of ownership

    Tyler BlomTyler Blom22 napja
  • Man these have grown on me so much. I actually think they look great. Unique, yes, but unmistakably Porsche, and the form follows function. I think now that sloped backs are more common and in today’s suv world, these stand out in all the right ways.

  • Why are most Americans, including you, unable to pronounce the name PORSCHE correctly? It either sounds like Porsha or just Porsh. A German, Ferdinand Porsche, built this car and his name has a clear 'e' at the end, which is pronounced like the E in Echo. Just say Porschecho, but leave the 'cho' away. Ferdinand's toenails curl up every time his name is mutilated and he's tired of it!

  • When I first drove a Porsche, it was a 911.I did not like it at all. I felt like I am in a box, I did not knew where the edges was, and I did not like the whole perception of the car. Is that comfy? Yepp. Well made? Yepp. Fast? Maybe, but on normal roads, it gave me just nothing. Not my peace of cake. Then came the cayman and the boxster. Wow, so this is what Porsche is! It always gave me that smile, you know, it gave you that fun mood, where you respect the traffic rules, but everytime I change gears, steer, or... anything I do is just giving me a smile. Next one was the Cayenne and Macan. Oh god. After every other car in that class, I just found absolutley nothing to argue with. It is the surprise, the recognition of "so it can be good hah". I would choose Porsche over anything else. Nothing comes to my mind what I would tweak with. Good seats, logical controls, everything is within arms reach, and what you need is there. It is like walking, and if you start stretching the boundaries, then comes the wow. What it is capable of, is not what you would like to achieve. It is a car what does what you want. Always predictable, even beyond the limit. Porsches support you. Lastly, the panamera. That is my dreamcar, a panamera for the weekdays, and a cayman for the weekends. Porsche (except the 911) made what all the car should be. Well made, but in every single detail, to a very high standard. Yes you could find hundreds of horsepowers with any other brand, good saloons and suvs and sporty ones, but as a whole car, everything component every detail is made to that high standard, and finetuned to make it a package which works together like it should be.

  • One year ago, I have bought 2014 Panamera, with 50k miles on it, for 36k$, and so far, I haven't had a single problem whatsoever. The level of comfort and luxury you get, cannot be compared with most of the cars that old, in that money range. My opinion is that this one is underestimated due high cost of maintenance and repairs, but , lets face it, every German car is like that. On the other hand, they don't break down often, and my mechanic told me that like a month before I got it, its a quality built .

  • @3:10 Who gives a rat's ass about what is fashionable today? That is a damn good looking enterior. :) @6:12 It is a simple design choice. @7:33 If that is true, it must last longer than a standard manual transmission. It is more complex, hence more expensive to maintain. @17:44 How does a Porsche handles like?

And according to you, you too will have the "questionable" taste in cars when that happens. Generally we don't drive little rice burners with rediculous looking wings wobbling on our trunk lids like some kind of bobble head hula girl having a siezure.

  • I just bought a 2013 4s. It's much better equipped than your example, has a 400hp V8, nearly new tires, an extensive service history, and in spite of what you say, I think the styling is very good. Certainly it's better looking than ANY of the comparable 4dr sport/luxury sedans. I paid $24,000 out the door. I'd guess you would give my car at least a 75, rather than a score of 60. I was gassing up on the way home from the dealer and the lady on the opposite pump asked, "What kind of car is that". "A Porsche", I replied. She smiled and said "No wonder I like it so much. Those guys really know how to do it". I grinned.

  • The Panamera, like a used MB S550, is an excellent value and a wonderful car. Potential buyers should be aware of two drawbacks, however. First it drives well in all respects but it is not a 911. It does not have the 911‘s uncanny ability to read your mind and transmit that to the road. Secondly, any Porsche is very expensive to repair. Even routine maintenance will frighten normal car buyers.
